Since the completion of baseline data collection, the CCSS has placed a significant emphasis on the development and conduct of projects focusing on innovative biologic questions and intervention strategies. The CCSS provides an unparalleled resource for the entire scientific community. Proposals to utilize the CCSS cohort can be submitted by any investigator, whether or not they have been directly involved with the study.
The wealth of information contained in the CCSS database is available to all qualified investigators, subject to review by the appropriate study committee. Proposals that require direct contact with cohort members or that use banked biological materials require additional review. They must meet the highest research standards and address questions of critical importance that can only be answered using this unique resource.
The range of research questions that can be addressed using the cohort is extremely broad, as evidenced by the list of recent funded ancillary projects.
